Olive's Bed & Breakfast was originally the home of Mr. Daniel Asbury Morris and his wife Mrs. Lula Melissa Dennis. The home was built around 1919 and Daniel and Lula raised three boys and three girls in the home. One of their children was Olive Blanche Morris and she married Dallas Durant Kirby in 1934. In the 1950s, the home and farm were purchased by Dallas and Olive. Throughout the following years they raised their family of six boys here. Eventually all of the boys were grown and moved away, with families of their own. But most every Sunday, after church, many of the children would return to the home for Sunday dinner with their families. Fried chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, pound cake and sweet tea were common during these occasions. After dinner, family would gather on the front porch in rocking chairs and swings to enjoy the company of one another. Although Olive and Dallas are no longer with us, we believe that their memory can live on through this house and through sharing it with others, the way they always did.
